By now this set should be a familiar sight to many. It's the US exclusive repaint of featured Legend of Knights dragons Arcturus and Nereus, this time in striking red and icy blue. This is a great set with official repaints of these dragons. I'm not familiar with there ever being a different release for these particular colours, although I also have seen a repack for the Animal Planet brand that featured Nereus is yellow! I love the red version of Arcurus very much! It's the opposite of the Ice Dragon that Arcturus was when released with the Vikings line. With the addition of the green version from Medieval Kingdom, that means we can have an Ice Dragon, Fire Dragon and Forest Dragon!

This is a catalogue shot from none other than Medieval Kingdom' Kronox, the evil two headed dragon, which I can confirm is available in France, as we speak. Seen here in a completely different angle than the other in-package shots I have of this monster, it only confirms this is one of the most awesome dragons Chap Mei has done. Right up there with the likes of the Sea Wyvern! My trade connections (you know who you are, thank you!) have just confirmed one of these great Kronox dragons in on the way to my doorstep!!

hey Ghouldrool, Get one of these for me too! I have been working on a Good vs Evil diorama with Chap Mei figures representing the forces of evil (gargoyles, dragons, etc) fighting against Papo Anthropomorphic beasts and their realistic counterparts. Well, it turns out that it will take up too much space, so I will have to build yet another diorama, Chap Mei Dragons vs Knights.... So, I really need that 2 headed Kronos to champion the Chap Mei dragon army! The anthropomorphic rhino is pretty cool too......... Care to reveal your source? I just may have something that you need! Thanks, ursaUnsane

Thanks, ursaUnsane I have the set in hand!! It's absolutely fan-tas-tic. Expect my full review very soon!! I got mine from Amazon.fr - it's being distributed (not in the original Medieval Kingdom box) by a company named Logitoys. That really took some digging, and not to mention a trade contact in Europe that had a credit card.

And here it is, up close and personal, the Medieval Kingdom centerpiece, KRONOX! Kronox is a fearsome two headed dragon that comes with a basket tied to its back so it can be used as a war beast, crushing opposing armies. This is one side. Note that the necks are actually ball jointed! Here's the other side highlighted. This side is obviously the side the screws are on. Also, the basket DOES look removable. On the inside is a screw that can be removed so the basket can be taken off the back. Although there is a slight rise on the back itself which will look slightly odd. The button on the side triggers a light up feature in the creature's chest and an electronic howl that sounds right in between a Tyrannosaur and an elephant. This is Rhinomorp, a figure with no articulation. The weapon is sculpted into the hand. This is not uncommon with Chap Mei figures though, as Legend of Knights also had archers that had zero points of articulation, and many other figures did as well. The sculpt is great though, and reminds me somewhat of the Papo or Revell Epixx figures. As for the size, the creature is appropriately massive! Looks like Thun may be in trouble.... Here's a scale shot with another Chap Mei titan, Tuskor Raider. And Mighty Hurricane seems to have met his match in this one... The package from Amazon came with all the parts shown in the picture above and the generic knight as well. It has a flip up visor like earlier Legend of Knights figures did. It was NOT packaged in Medieval Kingdom packaging so I can't show you a shot of the back of the box. It came in generic cardboard, instead.

This is the best shot I've seen of this set, thus far! The tower playset reminds me a lot of a very similar playset Simba has done for its Knights series!

So here it is at last, the enormous CYCLOPS or Cave Troll from Chap Mei's dreadfully distributed Medieval Kingdom line. This creature was picked up by Early Learning Centre and sold loose without the rest of the content with it. It's much more massive than the original pictures have given it credit for! In person it really towers over 3 3/4 inch figures, while I had estimated it being a little shorter. A very pleasant surprise - the creature's weapon is almost bigger than a 3 3/4 inch figure by itself! Originally, it came with this set. This version came by itself in an ELC box: Here are close ups for the detail in the creature's head! The Cyclops has articulation in the neck so it can move its head, both arms (though an action feature limits movement of the left arm) and both legs. Very decent, Chap Mei did not cut corners. The eye is nice work too, with the iris painted on translucent red plastic. It's made out of one piece along with the tongue. The weapon, as visible in the ELC packaging, is loose so it can be removed from the hand. In scale with Thun. This picture really shows off its massiveness. In fact, the Cyclops is big enough to bite Thun's head off in one go. Our hero doesn't stand a chance! Victorious, the creature lets out a bellowing electronic roar which lights up the eye and tongue! And to top off this review, here's a shot of all the Medieval Kingdom pieces I've collected, so far! Now, let's hope Chap Mei does a re-release of this line on the double so I can actually find MORE of this great series. ;D

Old news to some, but brand new to me: the US exclusive repaint sets that brought us the fantastic Arcturus dragon from Legends of Knights in red, also made the dragon in AZURE blue. This is the original Arcturus, in cobalt blue: This set, we've seen before: But when I got that box in, the back of the box showed information that could only mean another repaint, Arcurusu in azure blue. And here it is! It's quite a strinking difference in colour. And to me, this is a big deal. Since Chap Mei's medieval fantasy stuff is by far my favorite theme, I'm really excited to find this one. Along with the new Medieval Kingdom repaint in green, this makes four different colours that I know of now!

Because I was able to aquire one of the Medieval Kingdom knight + horse sets, I'm finally able to show the rest of the awesome backside of the Medieval Kingdom packaging. And more importantly, finally find out the official Chap Mei character names! And here it is! Unfortunately my box came with three large import stickers, that were a real pain to scratch off! But thankfully, the box underneath revealed its secrets. We now know that: - King Leo is actually called King Leo II; this is a nice nod to Legends of Knights, which also featured a King Leo. Remarkably the king in Quest for Dark Beasts was named Richard. - The White Wizard's actual name is Turtleblood. I could have made a million guesses and not come up with that. - The knight with the red breastplate and flip-up visor is named Knight Xavier. - The knight with the white breastplate and lacking knee or hip articulation is called Knight Pyrrus. Names we already learned: Lord Draco, Cyclops, Kronox, Grasper, Minotaurus and Rhinomorp. The green dragon remains nameless, and the crossbow knight as well as the light up version of Orcus and the blue wizard are not shown. Here are further close ups.

Here are more webshop images, this time of the smaller castle set from Medieval Kingdom! Note that this is not the deluxe castle set that was available in the UK - this one has no walls, just the front of the castle, just like the Legends of Knights version was packaged. It also contains other figures. Aside from getting the wizard Turtleblood on single card, this is the only set to find him in. A repaint in blue with electronic light up feature is available in another set, as well. The crossbowman wasn't named on the back of my box. This horse is different from the electronic version. It's a straight up repaint of the Legends of Knights horse, with a different headpiece.
