I've been kinda busy with a lot of community theatre stuff, so I haven't really posted much in terms of finds lately, but I did spot these new True Legends toys at TRU I got yesterday. I just popped in after buying some supplies for...er...stuff. I was thrilled to see new fantasy-themed stuff...yet, technically, these are no where NEAR as exciting as the orc/elf and Greek myth stuff. I still snagged the four available sets. Sadly, I haven't QUITE opened 'em yet. Most of the stuff seems new sculpt, but the horses appear to be reused Chap Mei molds...I think. Again, I've been a tad busy lately, so I hope to open these babies up later on and try 'em out. I'm assuming these were made in response to 'How to Train Your Dragon 2', just as the the orc/elf sets seem to be made in response to 'The Hobbit' films. My first impression of these wasn't that great. They seem a little flat. Dragons and knights are just so...standard, in terms of sword 'n' sorcery fare. These just don't excite me that much. The sculpts seem a bit boring as well. I'm wondering if we'll get the usual figure packs or and larger creature sets or even a castle. We'll see. No other toys shown on the packaging. I do hope that if we do get a large dragon, that it's not just a reuse of any of the old Chap Mei dragons...unless they do a really nice repaint. A large castle playset would be nice. I honestly wouldn't care if it was any of the old hard-to-find Chap Mei Knights castles or a totally new one.

Saw the Knights line in TRU in Massachusetts this week. 4-pack of figures (3 knights 1 Wizard (Merlin)), A Castle Set with a Unmasked King Arthur. And 2 different Dragon sets (with Knights found in the 4-Pack). The line almost looks like the 90's cartoon "King Arthur & The Knights Of Justice."

I like the Merlin figure, but I'm having doubts about the rest being actual Chap Mei toys. With a lot of different lines piled up under one brand by Toys R Us, it's hard to tell.

Merlin is pretty nice and fits in well with most of the Chap Mei fantasy lines. The knights are a little cheaper feeling though and I have broken 2 of the arms of my knights due to their new joints. I'm not really a fan of Knight figures though so I may be a little bias towards them. None of the figures have nearly as much detail in their sculpts as the Chap Mei lines or the other True Legends lines. I highly doubt these are Chap Mei.

How well do these guys measure up with the older Legend of Knights-style stuff? They look like they're considerably bigger.
