I think the Griffin's body is definitely something from Mega Blocks, the company responsible for the plasma dragons and other stuff like it that comes in an egg and you have to build. I don't really care for those, but I can recognise the sculpt any day.

I found a box of bootlegged knights on Ebay. I didn't buy it, but I like to look at what other companies have done with the sculpts. If anything, I think the weapons would be very passable!

picked these up yesterday for about $1.30 each. (GI JOE Sand Viper figure for size comparison). The accessories will be perfect for Ryuzo Hero of the Post Apocalypse.

Ah yes, the Darkness Warriors. I've seen them so many times now I've actually had enough of them, but I always like the countless packaging variations that stuff like this gets. The weapons included in these sets do have some merit, though!

I've seen sets similar to these too. Are they Chap Mei knockoffs? They don't look much like something sculpted by Chap Mei...

If anything they're Imaginext inspired KOs but of poor quality... I'll let this one slide because some of the weapons that I've seen in conjunction with these figures are Chap Mei ;D

No, I've bought Imaginext toys for my nephew (and an Imaginext Superman for myself because I'm that big a Superman nerd) and these are definitely not Imaginext.
I probably wouldn't object to getting the Ram-Man wannabe to use as a dwarfen companion to Thunderthor, though. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I'm at the dollar store that has these.

For some reason I really like that statue of the winged man that's included in the Ram-man set!

Here's a horrific Deep Sea Adventure bootleg set that might even pass for the original with untrained eyes! Note the poor viperfish's lower jaw is gone ! Even more horrible is the inclusion of the really rare Captain Rogue. Booh, hiss!

Note the poor viperfish's lower jaw is gone ! Super Dragons suffered from having every non-screwed part held on by poor quality hot glue. As a result, my Slime's lion had the entire upper part of his head wobbling around in the packaging when I bought it. You can probably find a real Chap Mei one if you look in the right places, bro!

And Dollarama brings out another Chap Mei bootleg, this time of those creatures with interchangeable parts! Although the package is loaded with cross-sells and statements of COLLECT THEM ALL, the store I found this one in only had four of the same beast. A spinosaurus? Not much of a dragon.... Still a neat find, even though this is the second Chap Mei bootleg line I find that promises dragons but fails to deliver.

ahh, that's horrible that these were bootlegged. This Spino's from Dino Curse, not Dragon Curse and particularly Dragon Curse II (or Monster Curse) is high on my list to get. If there's bootlegs circulating that will complicate things, as they're really hard to tell apart from a distance in an ebay lot for example.
Good find, particularly good shot of the hydra-like dragon in green on the side.

I would've loved the serpent-like dragon (or any of these other non-dino dragons). I'll have to try other Dollaramas and see if they might have gotten in different ones.

Dinosaur Discovery ExpeditionFinally the long awaited Dinosaur set that popped up on ebay and has been making some noise over in the Watch Tower section. I'll settle this debate now and say this is a bootleg I know, I know many of you including myself wanted this to be a new Chap Mei set sold in the U.S.. It is made by a company called Adventure Planet and you can view there website at advenplanet.com From inside the packaging it does look like a convincing Chap Mei set. However once I opened the package which is nice packaging by the way. The figures are less then sub par. The figure does appear to be a kit bash of several Chap Mei figures with cheap plastic and a really bad paint job. The video camera accessory is basically to pieces of plastic with 2 screws holding it together. The set also comes with a bush, props for sticking in a plant for added detail. The motorcycle is actually the nicest part of the set has a nice dinosaur expedition decal on each side. The motorcycle does have moving wheels and a turning front wheel action. The drivers seat is way to big for 3 3/4" figures and will likely split your figures crotch in half. Finally "sigh" the dinosaur. The "Raptor" appears to be the same mold as the CM Dino Quest Velociraptor and includes moving arms and legs but no action feature. It is alright for a bootleg and sure there are plenty of Chap Mei bootlegs out there, but hey, if Chap Mei refuses to sell there product to the U.S. then we are going to buy these bootlegs. If you are interested in purchasing this set you can buy them over at thedinosaurpark.com.
