Hello and welcome everyone! As I write this, the 'Chap Mei Universe' forum is brand spanking NEW and ready to launch. This thread will serve as a members introduction thread. But before I start, let's start with a few words about this forum.
I've been collecting for nearly a decade now, ever since it started showing up in the Netherlands and the rest of western Europe. I have a pretty large collection and a lot of information at my disposal in the form of saved pictures for reference.
Because if anything, the internet was missing a good central point of reference for Chap Mei collectors. It's not that Chap Mei toys are invisible - on the contrary. I'll wager anybody who's interested in collecting action figures has heard or seen something about Chap Mei figures.
But what's not available is reference. What information is available is buried underneath forums full of G.I. Joe or other figures or general figure collecting sites. Chap Mei itself has a website - a sluggish flash player ridden monstrocity that's hardly updated, if ever, and contains virtually NO information about Chap Mei's rich history of action figure lines.
With this forum's creation, I want to change that. Therefore, I intend to keep this forum as a Chap Mei Purist forum. I'm sure we all collect other action figures - I'd be surprised if you didn't, really! - but that's not what I want to read about on this particular forum. Here, I want to read about Chap Mei stuff and only that - because in itself, Chap Mei has created a vast and colourful and spectacularly playable and collectible UNIVERSE of toys which I am madly enthusiastic about, and I want to share my hobby with the rest of the internet.
I hope you'll all join in, raise awareness about Chap Mei's product, increase demand, and with it, increase supply. We may see aisles upon aisles of Chap Mei toys in every store, yet.
I'll race you. ;D
Your friendly Admin,
Ghouldrool

Great idea GD! I first discovered Chap-mei items back around 2002-03 when Rite-Aid stores in the US started repackaging Chap-Mei's Beast Raider figures/mounts in their generic Rite-Aid 2 for 1 toys. I was in design school at the time and was already really inspired by the new He-Man figures made by the Four Horsemen and I was totally caught off guard by the Beast Raiders amazing sculpts & detail for being what I thought at the time was a MotU knock-off. I started buying them up and trying to find out more about the company. I was graduating from school (to be a toy designer) in a few months and I was trying to find a smaller company to get my foot in the door with. The information on the Rite-Aid packaging led me to a distribution company in Texas who had no idea who made these toys. All they knew was that the sets arrived to their warehouses packaged, they'd cut the tape, slide the internal box out, slide it back into the generic Rite-Aid boxes, and sent the original boxes to recycling. It wasn't until a few years later when I saw some in the actual Beast Raider boxes at Big Lots that I knew what they were called or that there were playsets (I'm a playset junky). Ever since then I've checked out new Chap-Mei stuff when I've found it and have always been impressed. Although, I'm continually frustrated that I can never seem to find the bigger playsets or vehicles seen on the packaging here in the US (some of the military planes are crazy awesome!). I've come to the conclusion that the stuff just isn't distributed here. I'm glad you made this place GD and am looking forward to this becoming a great resource for C-M stuff! ;D

I started with Chap Mei many years ago with seeing the Emergency sets at Big Lots. I'd pick up a set or two (mainly to use the accessories for my GI Joe figures)
Then a few years ago I discovered the Adventure Heroes line and realized the figures themselves were just as cool as the accessories I had been collecting.

Hello everyone,
Been collecting all kinds of action figures for centuries now (atleast it feels that way) and i've bought my share of Chap Mei stuff in the last couple of years. Mostly because of the Dino series and the Ninja series, they're just so great.
Hope i can be of service here and anxious to learn a lot about these!

Hello all,
I've been collecting chap-mei for about 10 yrs. I first noticed the cool set's at Big Lots. I was really drawn to the animals. I loved how incredibly sculpted and painted they were, in addition to their "play" features. And I just really loved how adventure themed they were, in addition to their creative figures and accessories.
Now..I look forward to finding out about all the other chap-mei that's been made, and what's currently being sold around the world. And hopefully...some of chap-mei's plans for the future.

Thanks for the greeting.
I didn't collect everything chap-mei, just my favorite themes that were mostly animal and adventure related. Unfortunately ...most of my collection is packed away in storage, until we move in a year or 2.

Hi! My name is Luís Galileu, but everyone in the net calls me TG due to my nick. I started collecting G.I. Joes, but was atracted by the great Chap Mei vehicles, specially the Police theme. So if you have the new series for sale contact me . I'm from Brazil, 30 years old, married and have I have a seven year boy and a girl on his way since my wife is pregnant. Hope to find a place to exchange ideas about Chap Mei toys.

Hi there. I've been a collector of just about every action figure line since the mid-70's. Most of it has gone to eBay over the years, but I still have all my comics (about 8,000), a modest collection of Transformers and some Godzilla figures. I've had a few Chap Mei toys over the years but I've just recently started seriously collecting them. My research into the variety of Chap Mei toys that were out there led me here. Very cool board, hope to stick around for a while.

I just began collecting Chap mei toys with the awesome " Medieval Kingdom " line. The molds, sculpt and sometimes the paint are very impressive. I saw those toys in a store called "Jugetròn" is the only store that has Chap Mei in the city where I live;well maybe "Comercial Mexicana" also sells them but only for the holydays.Hope they bring more of those wonderful toys since I like them a lot.Chap Mei has the most wonderful Cyclops toy I`ve seen.If somebody in the Forum knows of other stores in Mèxico where I can find these toys please let me know.

Howdy all!!!
I just recently started to collect Chap Mei as enthusiastically as I've collected other lines. I started out looking for accessories and playsets for my Joe team. It wasn't until recently that I sort of rediscovered them at Toys R Us branded under the TRU Heroes and Animal Planet brands. I really like what Chap Mei has done with their figures and playsets, which in my opinion often knocks some of the items produced by Hasbro and company out the box. I'm hoping to learn more about the various lines and hope that I can contribute just as much as I learn.
