You read that right! After all these years, they still surprise us! Toys R Us has these sets near The Hobbit toys. True Legends appears to be a largely new, and partially reused line. Four entirely new elf sculpts. Four entirely new orc sculpts. All new accessories. Some reused (and very welcome ) older characters like the Griffin! There were three new sets there. On the back of the packaging, it shows two more that were not there yet, but hopefully soon. The "Orc Raiding Party" and "Elf Raiding Party" were not there. Large set includes Tower with rotating ballista, flying dragon (in BLACK!!!) catapult, battering ram, 2 elves, 2 orcs and accessories. Back of large set. Elves set. Elves. Back of Elves set. Orc set. Orcs. Back of Orc set. Now the really fun part... What characters from other lines would you like to see re-released in this line? I can think of at least half a dozen before I even finish this sentence! But I want to hear all yours! There are LOADS of others that could work in this line maybe with some additional parts and such. And not even necessarily from other fantasy lines! GO!

GAH!! Thank you SO much for posting!! I want ALL of these! Contacting my US trade partners as we speak. Were these found in Canada or actual USA TRUs? So that's why there was no Griffin in the Legends/Knights series. I wonder what else from that line will end up in this one. There had better be more to it! There's a TON of fantasy stuff that Chap Mei can still cram into this line. Where's the repainted Cave Troll and the white wizard? Will there be knights? Also, it's amazing to see the old Beast Raider tower show up HERE, in this line! Repainted and all! Amazing. I must own all of these. All series together, Chap Mei has the BEST generic fantasy line, EVER. And that title used to belong to Arco's Other World, so that's saying something ;D

VERY COOL. Naturally I like the griffin the most, and naturally it doesnt seem to be around. Sigh. I'll be grabbing the lot. Where's the two headed dragon and the troll? Don't want to sound unappreciative but we want the goods!

Yes, I think they go quite well with the Hobbit figures.
These were in a Los Angeles area Toys R Us.
I sure do hope the Griffins are easy to get. I have been wanting that since I first saw it and was never able to track it down! I do hope they take this line as far as possible. In fact, I would love to see them rerelease almost all of their fantasy figures with new paint schemes. I would buy them all!
And yes, the Cave troll, white wizard, TWO HEADED DRAGON!!! All great subjects for rerelease!
What others do you guys want to see?

I've got a store report from the LA area that the griffin set is out. Same for the two headed wolves.
I definitely expect to see a repaint of the Cave troll. Why not! I know for a fact that Chap Mei stuff that is picked up by TRU is bound to get their own series and those sets are often bigger and more diverse than what TRU is getting in stock. Look what happened with Animal Rescue, the set that came out last year. All year, new stuff from that set primiered under the Animal Planet brand which is exclusive to TRU, like the femal vet, the humpback whale, the female dolphin trainer, and the mini crocs. It wasn't until later that the actual set catalogue pics showed up.
The same thing, I expect, will happen with the Pirates four pack that is on Ebay right now and hopefully the True Legends stuff too. I'm definitely hoping for more NEW content, as well.
I really want to see single carded sets with a little pet creature companion, slightly larger sets with the giant spider or the smaller wolf, bigger sets that include that wonderfully repainted green dragon we saw in the Legends/Knights line, perhaps a horse/elf combo, or entirely new steeds. I like the ' Raiding party' assortments that TRU has made, but selling the Griffins or Two Headed wolves seperately with only one figure is totally doable.
Let's hope this line makes it big! Toy Fair is yet to come, let's hope for the best. That TRU has these is a VERY good sign.

Yes, the Griffins/ Elves and Two headed wolves/ Orcs sets are out in the L.A. area... I would love a Cave Troll in a new color, they could even add some armor parts to him! The cave men with add on armor parts and weapons would make great barbarian types!

A trade contact of mine was kind enough to pick them up for me. These are his pics. I'm sharing them here because I noticed that the mold has been changed: the griffings now have a saddle sculpted into their body! Here's a good close up, where you can definitely see the difference with the picture we have of the original griffin: Interesting that they didn't use a removable saddle!

Oh yes, I've often wanted to army build this figure in particular: But sadly, while I have a couple each of the other three, I have only ONE of this guy. And that's really a shame, because he's the best of the bunch. He could easily pass as a 'Wild Man' from LOTR and if you've seen Fire and Ice, the old animated film by Ralph Bakski, the main grunts of the wonderful villain from that film were also half-ape/half-men such as this.

ribefex: Yup, the Vikings Sea Wyvern would be an easy add to this line. Ghouldrool: It is odd that they went to the trouble to modify the mold of the Griffin instead of adding a removable saddle. I am happy to get one at all, but I still love that original one and would love to get my hands on one! That caveman would be a great one to add. As you said, he could easily be a wild man, or ape man type. Or even a hairy orc! Who says they cant be? The beauty of a fantasy line is that so many previous molds could easily work. As I said, with a couple of separate armor pieces added, maybe a shield and more fantasy type weapon, cave men, giant mummy, dinosaurs, animals and others could work well in True Legends!

There is also a knock off line of that ape man, there was a seller on Ebay that had them last year, but i can't remember the knock off line name, some people found them at cheap dollar stores.

These figures are awesome! I was so happy with the 3.75 Hobbit line and was hoping Chap Mei would make a line to go with the Hobbit. I mean, we're getting three movies so that is decent shelf life. Kind of strange Toys R Us have Pirates but non of the Skeleton pirates (or the crock headed guy. I found mine in Australia in a discount store individually boxed. Would anyone happen to have the UPC number or ToysRuS' SKU number on these? I am going to check my local store tomorrow night (I'll report in on findings). If they dont have them, I will ask if they can order them in.

That original GRiffin design is still great, I agee. It's the whole eagle colour pattern that really works. And it's such a shame that it is still so damn hard to find!! Out of all the Medieval Kingdom boxes most content got released SOME way or another and I've even seen some on Ebay sporadicaly, but never these two: And these were the two sets I wanted the most! I loved the Griffin and the electronic versions of the White wizard and Orcus. Now Orcus has been re-released as Severin the Sorcerer, only better... and I hope that the blue wizard seen here will get the same treatment. Ive never even seen a close up of that! And as for that green dragon, we already know it's been repainted as Scilla the Jade Dragon!

Oh, and one more thing, and for this I'm quite willing to beg, grovel and whine: PLEASE make a female elf warrior!! We have this amazing fantasy world at our fingertips in glorious 3 3/4 inch scale and there is no female warrior or princess or pretty much anything. I would really like it if this set had one!
