Chap Mei's most awesome Vikings line. This line is actually one of Chap Mei's best designed, but for some reason it saw extremely limited distribution. It was available in the United Kingdom for a while but it looked like only four sets were carried at the likes of Tesco's and other similar stores. High time we dig a little deeper into this line. A catalogue shot of single carded Vikings. Wish that it were so one could walk into a store and buy these for € 1,99. Especially Longtooth Siguard, the blue Beastman, I would troop build into infinity. Then, smaller sets. These are also very cool, with nice small monsters to accompany the characters. These are medium sets. Note the return of some previously seen monsters, like the Smilodon that was available in Ice Quest, the Barracuda from Pirate Expeditions and the dragon we know too welll from Legend of Knights. This larger set sees a repainted return of Mighty Moe, the big whale from Deep Sea Adventure.

Up next, I have some shots of the two biggest sets. First, the super impressive longboat set. This craft is a stunner. It's bigger than it looks in person, the details are fantastic and there's a rowing action when the ship moves forward it has to be seen to be believed. It's that cool. Next, a catalogue shot of the biggest set, the longboat with Sea Wyvern steed included. This set is incredibly hard to get. It's massive, so whatever shipping you're going to have to pay will be more expensive than the set itself, and this set was not carried by the few stores that got the Vikings in in the UK. If it was available in Europe somewhere, you're in luck if you saw it. I'll trade you my V-22 Osprey for it.

Here's another boxed version of the Sea Serpent set, but in a different packaging configuration than the above picture. The same thing happened with the Polar Bear Chariot set, although I'm not completely sure why this was done... perhaps to save on shipping or shelf space?

Here are some close ups of Bearskin Jearl, and what he looks line underneath his Polar Bear armour. There's fantastic opportunity to repaint this figure as Chap Mei's sculpt is fantastic, but paint application is minimal. I've repainted one myself and pictures will definitely follow!

Man, this is probably the best looking of all the Chap Mei figure lines to date! Been casually trying to put a set together over the last while, but haven't seen much of them (outside of 1 guy on Ebay who had them marked waaaay up their!)

Yeah, his prices are doubled from what these sets cost at retail. Plus, he's in Malaysia, so shipping will be the death of you. You're probably best off looking for these sets on Ebay.co.uk as at least four of the sets were picked up by retail stores there.

I keep trying to the plant the seed in ToysRUs' collective conciseness to carry these in collaboration with upcoming "How To Train Your Dragon" films... with little effect. The store employees I talk to seem to think that they would sell very well. Higher up the food chain I can't get any response.
I'm hoping that they'll eventually carry them in an effort to get me to stop pestering them all. A wins still a win! ;D

Yes! Scratch one more Holy Grail off my list because I have foud the ultra rare SEA WYVERN from Chap Mei's Vikings line! And I'm now able to share this great shot of it, as well! I had to outbid someone for this but damn, I was so pleased when I found this totally mislisted auction. Since I already have the Longship from its boxed release in the UK, I was thinking that this baby would be impossible to get, unless someone found a sealed box of the Longship and the Wyvern together and sold it. But a box of that size is REALLY expensive to ship. So imagine my surprise when I came across the Wyvern loose and with three loose figures included. I'm VERY anxious to receive this superb CM monster and I'll make sure to review it when I do! In the mean time, enjoy this picture which is one of the best ever seen as of yet of this elusive toy.

Here's a set that was conspicuously missing from the thread... the North Sea Plunderer! The Hammerhead shark steed was also released in the XL configuration sets of Pirate Expeditions II. In itself it's a repaint of the Hammerhead that was available in Deep Sea Adventure. I'm pretty sure that the North Sea Plunderer vehicle was designed for Pirates Expeditions II as well, and I'm a little surprised that Chap Mei didn't take the opportunity to resurrect this sculpt for the new Pirate offerings that are available right now...

Here are better shots of the small sets that contain a figure and a small creature. I love these little sets, and I wish these would be more widely available. This is a very impressive repaint of the giant spider. And of course, I still need a Wolf Ingmar figure... Luckily I have the small octopus seen here from a Deep Sea Adventure set. And the last two, Nereus is still a very impressive dragon!
