Here's a good shot of the skeletal remains. I like to think it a tradition of Viking Longships that no captain may sail out on one without the carcass of its former captain accompanying the crew on the mast. Superstition, and all!

Wow. Creepy. Especially with the right arm dangling, while the hand itself is still clutching a treasure box.

Here it is at last, the fantastic Chap Mei Sea Wyvern from the Vikings: Legend of the Norse Warriors line! Fantastic detail in the head. Chap Mei has amazing sculptors on board who can really capture fantasy creatures such as this. Like a giant sea horse, this creature stands over 12 inches tall. It has a base that it's permanently attached to, but it has two swivel points of articulation in the body and the jaws open and close when the top fin is pressed down. This also triggers a light up feature in the 'angler' fin on top of the creature's head. Sculpted into the body of the Wyvern is a saddle, which is made to accomodate the action figures in the line. There's a removable belt along the neck that has handles where the figure can hold onto the steed. The Wyvern is made to be used along with figures in the 3 3/4 inch scale, such as shown here with Beast Raider's Thunderthor. However, since most of us are He-man fans, I dare not deprive you of THIS particular shot!

I was really hoping that US retailers would pick up on these to coincide with the Thor movie. They would have been perfect.

We may yet see some come the summer! TRU already brought pirates over, Vikings may be next.
I'd sure like that, given as all I could find here have been bootlegs of the figures alone.
As an aside, I would also love for Chap Mei to tackle the norse mythology more directly. How awesome would Chap Mei toys of Thor, Loki, Fenrir and Surtr be???

I would definitely love for Chap Mei to do a Vikings II! But then I would hope they treat it the same as Medieval Kingdom: Mostly new sculpts, preferably all new sculpts for the figures, and indeed, why NOT venture into the Norse mythology.
For that matter I wish we would have a more direct line with Chap Mei itself. I know they were informed of the old forum, but aside from that CM's web presence is nil.
Which is why I created this forum. If it can get big enough it can be very beneficial for Chap Mei itself. They must understand that Vikings is practically their most sought after line!

Sorry to be the one to have to say this, my friend, but I think if you want Chap Mei to take more notice of this forum... you're going to have to make it accessible to everyone. As it is now, only registered, logged-in users can view the forums.

This is true of course, but the reason I did this in the first place was so that I could have members actually sign up, so I'd have a member count. It's less fun when there's a whole crowd of 'guests' and nobody takes the time to post!
I've put the forum on visible-for-all now. I certainly hope it will catch some eyes!

I would buy the hell out of a line based on Norse deities. It's not like Marvel owns that stuff, and their characters deviate so much from the source material it'd be easy to get it done without infringing on Marvel's copyrights.

Vikings as a Thor knock off would work, just as I'd be cheering for a relaunch of Beast Raider for this year's Conan the Barbarian, and another wave of Medieval Kingdom for next year's The Hobbit!

That'd be swell! Too bad the only Chap Mei in my area that isn't bad knockoffs is True Heroes and their police/firefighter/soldier toys, and Animal Planet's dinosaurs and sea creatures.

Yeah, sometimes the States gets the shaft when it comes to the fantasy lines, which is a shame. I remember a friend from the US helped me a good deal by getting me the smaller Chap Mei Adventure Heroes when they were released at Big Lots. Also TRU released the gargoyle set - still don't have the red gargoyle!

The gargoyle set?

Yes, around the same time TRU carried the Liopleurodon, there was a set that contained the Quest for Dark Beasts two-headed wolf, the red gargoyle Mars and the small winged gargoyle Bacchus. It got recalled for some reason so it was only on the shelves for a few months, I believe.

Well, there's another thing TRUs around here utterly failed to carry, then.
