Whoa! Great find Gigamach. What city do you live in?
This post made my day. 3 awesome new monsters. I'm more into the Olympus theme than the Middle Earth stuff but these will fit in with the attack on Olympus play set I'm working on. Both the Tree Monster and Troll would make great Titans and the Darkfire would make a great steed for my custom Calibos or Hades - or the Dragon guardian of the golden fleece. I already have the Ork raiding party and Wolf steed sets backing up my Calibos.
What are the price points for the Tree and Troll?

I'm in San Diego. The Tree and Troll were $14.95 each. Just the monster in a nice square window-box. No extra figures, which is OK by me, I guess. I'm going to try and grab one of each ASAP. Hopefully they will list online soon enough.
And yeah, I think they'd fit in as Titans nicely! That's the fun of these - They aren't bogged down by pre-existing property. They can really be whatever you want them to be, which is pretty great.

Thanks, Ghouldrool. I've become rather obsessed with Chap Mei and their offshoots! I'll definitely post more pics of Darkfire later today or tomorrow, when I can get some nice shots that aren't from my desk.

San Diego! No way. I was there on business on Monday and Tuesday and went to the TRU, specifically looking for CM stuff. That is where I took the photo of the Ork 4-pack that features red Orks. These were definitely not there when I looked - must have missed them by a day. Heartbreaking! I'll have to be on the lookout here in the Austin area or just nab them on line.
I hope this means we will see more Olympus beasts too.
Will be posting pics of my completed Calibos in the Heroes of Olympus thread later today.

That's pretty funny...If it was the store on Morena, that's where I got my Orcs too. The TRU site said they didn't have the dragon when I looked yesterday. I went to the store in La Mesa to find him and the others, but even saying that, I swear they must have JUST stocked him, because I go once a week or so.
Looking forward to Calibos!

These are tight as heck. Going to TRU tomorrow to hunt them down. That tree warrior looks like Redlen from Inhumanoids. I'm digging all three.

In retrospect, the backs of the boxes of the first "Hobbit" inspired batch of figures did not show everything that was in the line all at once... So I'd advise everyone to keep their eyes peeled and please let me know if any MORE sets show up...I would definitely go for some more elves, for example! Where's that female warrior?

After gathering some change, I was able to venture back to legendary territory. Behold: The Battle Troll! Back of the box has the same cross-sell images that Darkfire has... With a small corner selling point on Battle Troll - Though this makes it look like an action feature, which it is not. Battle Troll comes with two huge weapons and a chain which can attach to any of six attachment points on the figure itself - Two ankles and four wrists! Too bad the weapons are hollow, but otherwise they look pretty great! Battle Troll has NINE points of articulation: Four wrists, the neck, the waist, and two shoulders; PLUS an extra joint in the left shoulder that allows for some more dynamic posing! I was surprised and delighted by this joint! It really goes a long way to up the quality and play value of this beast. Now, the legs are fixed and there is no articulation at all at the ankles, but the wide stance and big feet make for a nice, stable figure in pretty much any pose. However, if you put both arms forward, he can tip over, so be aware. One thing I'm not a fan of is the obvious screw-holes in the right outer-arm. Seems they could have hidden these more. In fact, there are twelve screw holes on the back of the Battle Troll, so be aware that photography from the rear might break the illusion, but only a little. In all, a pretty great addition to the True Legends line. Again, no indication that this is Chap Mei's work anywhere, save for safe conjecture based on style and such. BT is $14.95 at TRU. Go get him!

I saw this in your customs thread first so playing catch up. I'm going hunting for BT tomorrow. I think I need 2. One to keep in its original glory and one to splice the upper torso to the bottom of a CM giant octopus for a Kraken custom. Crazy but I'm confident it can be pulled off. Thanks so much for sharing.

This I gotta see! All your customs so far have been killer. Would not have thought of the Kraken. That's genius. Do they still sell the giant octopus set?

You can still get the octopus in the HOO Ancient Warship set. It's a pricey way to get the Octopus but I want that ship anyway. I need an Argo on my shelf since Perseus and Hercules were Argonauts.
He'll be a little smaller than other Godzilla-like interpretations of the Kraken but I think he will look pretty menacing.
Hey GigaMech, do you have the product code for Battle Troll from your receipt? I've been to 2 TRUs looking - both had Darkfire (I nabbed one and love him) but no BT or Tree Warrior. Might be easier to get one pulled from the back of the store with a code.

Great pics. Y'know... I got soooooo excited about the new stuff over the summer that after waiting several weeks (finding nothing in Canadian stores) I made the insane trip over the border to the states. THE NEXT WEEK THEY WERE IN THE TRU across the street : P. Do I wait? Do I go? Dunno. We never did get the cowboys here. That was my reasoning. But my wife thinks I'm nuts.
